Supporting teachers in preventing classroom management problems and responding to unwanted behavior when it occurs

Comprehensive Behavior Management: Schoolwide, Classroom, and Individualized Approaches supports teachers in preventing management problems and responding to unwanted behavior when it occurs in classrooms. The text offers a comprehensive presentation of three levels of behavior management strategies: individual, classroom, and schoolwide, all three of which contribute to a positive learning environment. A social learning emphasis in which human behavior is viewed within an ecological framework is integrated throughout the text. Application of this information is supported by a range of pedagogical devices such as vignettes, examples, strategies, and activities to show teachers how to manage behavior effectively. The analysis and applications in this text cover both general education and special education strategies.

Chapter Outlines: Carefully crafted outlines follow the structure of each chapter, providing an essential reference and teaching tool.

Course Syllabi: Sample syllabi—for semester, quarter, and online classes—provide suggested models for instructors to use when creating the syllabi for their courses.

PowerPoint® Slides: Chapter-specific slide presentations offer assistance with lecture and review preparation by highlighting essential content, features, and artwork from the book.

SAGE Journal Articles: A “Learning From SAGE Journal Articles” feature provides access to recent, relevant full-text articles from SAGE’s leading research journals. Each article supports and expands on the concepts presented in the chapter. This feature also provides discussion questions to focus and guide student interpretation.

Test Bank (Word®): This Word test bank offers a diverse set of test questions and answers for each chapter of the book. Multiple-choice, true/false, short-answer, and essay questions for every chapter help instructors assess students’ progress and understanding.

Web Resources: These links to relevant websites direct both instructors and students to additional resources for further research on important chapter topics.

Answers to Chapter Questions: These links provide the authors' answers to in-text study questions for each chapter.

“The chapters are easy to read, very understandable, and very comprehensive for the information my certification students need. I have students with a wide range of experience, ages, and abilities in my course and this book seems like it would benefit them all.”

“I was impressed with the organization of the text and I enjoyed the vignettes and the vignettes revisited sections. I was also impressed that a chapter on school safety was included. This is a current challenge and it needs to be addressed.”

Su-Je Cho
