John P. Allegrante, Editor-in-Chief of Health Education & Behavior, is Professor of Health Education and Deputy Provost of Teachers College and Adjunct Professor of Sociomedical Sciences at the Joseph L. Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University. Dr. Allegrante’s research has focused on behavioral self-management and health outcomes in chronic disease, threats to child and adolescent health, and public health workforce development. He has published extensively in health education and in clinical epidemiology and health services research. Dr. Allegrante is a Past President and Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Public Health Education and a member of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research and Society of Behavioral Medicine. He represents the United States as a Globally Elected Member of the Board of Trustees of the International Union for Health Promotion and Education.
