Publication ethics
We are committed to upholding the integrity of the work we publish. We encourage our authors and editors to refer to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) website.
SAGE takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practice in publication very seriously. We seek to protect the rights of our authors and we always investigate claims of plagiarism or misuse of published articles. Equally, we seek to protect the reputation of our journals against malpractice. Submitted articles may be checked with duplication-checking software. Where an article is found to have plagiarized other work or included third-party copyright material without permission or with insufficient acknowledgement, or where the authorship of the article is contested, we reserve the right to take action including, but not limited to: publishing an erratum or corrigendum (correction); retracting the article (removing it from the journal); taking up the matter with the head of department or dean of the author’s institution and/or relevant academic bodies or societies; banning the author from publication in the journal in question or all SAGE journals, or appropriate legal action.
Environmental responsibility
SAGE takes its environmental responsibilities extremely seriously. We work to minimize our environmental impact by:
Supporting sustainable forestry. We use Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-accredited paper to ensure that what we print on has been produced in a responsible way.
- Reducing paper use altogether where possible in some parts of the journals supply chai,n e.g., through email marketing campaigns, using electronic journal offprints and production work flows, and encouraging e-access.
- Videoconferencing wherever possible.
- SAGE is also committed to off-setting the carbon emissions from staff flights, working with Climate Care (www.climatecare.org). As we move forward, SAGE will continue to actively make changes to our process, both internally and externally, that will have a positive environmental impact.
Corporate Social Responsibility
We believe in adding value to both the global and our local community. View more information on our commitment to corporate social responsibility. |
