Journal Permissions

On each journal’s homepage, you may request permission by using the Copyright Clearance Center's Rightslink® service.

To request permission using Rightslink, just follow a few simple steps:

  1. Locate the Journal article that contains the content for which you are seeking permission at SAGE Journals Online. First, locate the Journal, and then using the table of contents, the “Abstract” or “PDF” link for the article you are interested in.

  2. Click the “Reprints and Permissions” link to open Rightslink:

  3. Create a Rightslink account (a two-step process) if you don't already have one.

  4. Select the description of how you will be using the content.

  5. Accept the terms and conditions of your permission grant (one click). You will receive an e-mail providing you with an order confirmation and license details.

If you can not find the article for which you are seeking permission on Sage Journals Online, please request permission from the Copyright Clearance Center at www.copyright.com. If you are still unable to secure permission after contacting the CCC, then please email us at permissions@sagepub.com. Please be sure your email includes the name of the desired content for which you are seeking permission (including the Journal Volume and Issue number) & a description of the use. Your request will be handled as quickly as possible, usually within two weeks.

Permission for Images, Figures, or Tables
Before requesting permission for a table, figure or other illustration, please check the journal to be sure the image you wish to reproduce is not credited to another source. The citation may be listed under the figure or in a credit section of the publication. Sage Publications, Inc. can only authorize permissions for material for which it holds or manages copyright. You will need to secure permission to use any material copyrighted to another source directly from the source cited. For more information contact the U.S. Copyright Office (http://lcweb.loc.gov/copyright)

Authors Re-using Their Own Work
If you are an Author inquiring about the re-use of your journal article, please note that after publication of the journal article, Authors may re-use their content in any print-form work written or edited by the Author or for classroom use, without seeking permission from SAGE.
You may post an abstract of your journal article on the internet at any time.

For any other use of your work, please email permissions@sagepub.com. Your request will be handled as quickly as possible, usually within two weeks.
