Manuscripts are peer-reviewed by Editorial Board members using an anonymize review system. Editors strive to notify authors about the disposition of their manuscripts in 12 weeks.

    Publication Policies

Submission implies that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. A signed online agreement transferring copyright from the first author (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to the Curators of the University of Missouri will be required before the manuscript can be accepted for publication. The Editor will send the first or corresponding author an email that directs the author to an online agreement form once the manuscript is accepted. The author is responsible for completing the online agreement form in a timely manner so that his/her manuscript can be processed by the publisher. This transfer of copyright, previously assumed to be implicit in the submission of a manuscript, is necessary under U.S. copyright law to enable the publisher to ensure maximum dissemination of the author’s work.

    Special Issues

At times, a call for papers will be announced for a special issue on a topic related to career development. JCD also entertains proposals from scholars for a special issue. To propose a special issue, please submit a 2-3 page proposal outlining the topic and rationale for the special issue and describing the papers that will comprise the special issue. Information about the contributors of the special issue and a proposed timeline for submitting initial manuscripts should also be included. The Editor will review the proposal and make a decision in 2-3 weeks. If the proposal is accepted, all manuscripts comprising the special issue will undergo a masked review process.

    Manuscript Style

Type double-spaced on one side of 8 ½ × 11-inch white paper using at least 1-inch margins on all sides. Manuscripts should not exceed 30 pages including title, abstract, main text, reference, tables, and figures.

The cover page should also include the following information for the corresponding author:

An email address for every author must also be provided.

    Manuscript
A manuscript should include title page, abstract, key words, main text, references, tables, and/or figures if applicable.

    Abstract
An abstract is to be provided and should be no longer than 150 words.

    Keywords

    References
List references alphabetically at the end of the paper and refer to them in the text by name and year in parentheses. All figures should be no smaller than the size at while they’ll be printed.
