Gwenda Sippings has over 30 years' experience in the information industry. From her first role as a reference librarian in Bedford public library, she has enjoyed a variety of roles in different sectors, all exploiting and adding value to her foundation skills. She has worked at senior management levels in the public and private sectors. She was Head of Information at global law firm Clifford Chance from 1994 to 2002, when she joined the Inland Revenue as its first Director of Information Resources. Following the merger with HM Customs and Excise she took on the role of overall Director of Knowledge Resources for HM Revenue and Customs. Her experience includes strategy and policy making, management of knowledge and information services and leadership of change management and the consequential human resource issues. A competent facilitator, she also offers career coaching for new entrants to the profession and established information and knowledge workers, and for senior executives moving between the public and private sectors. She has a particular interest in promoting the skills that information and knowledge managers can contribute to the success of the organizations in which they work. Gwenda has Bachelor and Master of Librarianship degrees from the University of Wales Aberystwyth, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (FCLIP). She has been a member of CILIP's Accreditation Board for some years, and worked on the Online Information Conference's Executive Committee. Gwenda has Welsh roots, and enjoys roles as Chairman of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, and as a member of Council of the University of Wales.
