Please send manuscripts by email attachment (preferably in Word format) to the new editors, Lee Miles and Jan Angstrom, at cooperationandconflict@kau.se. They are handling all submissions from 1st January 2010.
Articles submitted for publication should be about 8000 words in length, including references, footnotes, figures, and tables. Book reviews should be 500-800 words, or 1500 words if a number of books are discussed in one review.
Each article should be accompanied by:
(a) title of article and abstract of 200 words maximum;
(b) author's full name; a biographical note of no more than 70 words which includes institutional address, e-mail address if applicable, telephone and fax numbers.
Tables should be presented on separate sheets of paper at the end of the article, and should carry short, descriptive titles. Figures should be of reproducible standard, clearly numbered, and accompanied by explanatory captions typed on a separate sheet. The position of both tables and figures should be clearly indicated within the text. Long quotations (more than 40 words) should be displayed, indented; shorter quotes should be retained within the body of the text, with quotation marks.
Referencing. Use the Harvard-style system: surname, date and page no. cited in the text; with an alphabetically ordered end list, headed References, and typed double spaced for ease of editing. Use the following style:
(a) Rosenau, James, ed. (1964) International Aspects of Civil Strife. Princeton, NJ: Princeton University Press.
(b) Platter, Adele G. and Mayer, Thomas F. (1989) 'A Unified Analysis of International Conflict and Cooperation', Journal of Peace Research 26(4): 367-83.
(c) Azar, E. E. (1982) 'An Early Warning Model of International Hostilities', in N. Choucri and T. W. Robinson (eds) Forecasting in International Relations, pp. 223-38. San Francisco, CA: Freeman.
Only essential notes should be included. These should be indicated by superscript numbers in the text, and presented at the end of the text before the references.
The typescript should be carefully checked for errors before it is submitted for publication. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of quotations, for supplying complete and correct references, and for obtaining permission where needed to cite another author's material.
Our spelling style is based on the Oxford English Dictionary and the guidelines laid down in Hart's Rules for Compositors (Oxford); but US spellings are retained in papers of American origin. We also endorse the guidelines provided by the British Sociological Association for non-sexist and non-racist language.
Authors of main articles are sent proofs for checking and correction, and will receive controlled access to a PDF of their article plus one copy of the journal on publication. Book review authors only recive a PDF of their review.
Covering letter. Please attach to every submission a letter confirming that all authors have agreed to the submission and that the article is not currently being considered for publication by any other print or electronic journal.
