Information Development

Editor: J. Stephen Parker Ifla
Manuscript Submission Guidelines:

Contributors are encouraged to submit original articles dealing with current and specific aspects of information work from a practical, rather than a theoretical, viewpoint. Articles should normally be between 3000 and 7000 words in length. Articles must be original contributions which have not been published elsewhere, and which are not under consideration elsewhere.

The primary language of publication is English. Authors whose first language is not English should not be inhibited from submitting contributions in English because of this; the correction of minor grammatical and linguistic errors in English is regarded as an integral part of the editorial process.

Reviewing policy

The journal adheres to a rigorous double-blind reviewing policy in which the identity of both the reviewer and author are always concealed from both parties. All manuscripts are reviewed initially by the Editor and only those papers that meet the scientific and editorial standards of the journal, and fit within the aims and scope of the journal, will be sent for peer review. All manuscripts are reviewed by at least two members of the Editorial Advisory Board. All manuscripts are reviewed as rapidly as possible, and authors should expect to have reviewer's comments within approximately 6 weeks of submission.

Presentation of manuscripts

Contributions should be submitted as e-mail attachments in standard electronic formats. The preferred format for textual matter is MS Word.

Authors are expected to check their work carefully before submitting it, particularly with respect to factual accuracy, completeness and consistency. They should provide sufficient background information to enable readers who are unfamiliar with the activity or the country being described to understand it easily. Acronyms and abbreviations should be used sparingly; they should be spelled out in full the first time they are used.

Articles should be accompanied by abstracts of up to 150 words, five or six keywords and a brief statement containing the author's full name, current official designation, and full address and contact details.

Artwork

Contributors are encouraged to submit photographs and other illustrations to accompany their contributions. They should be submitted either in TIF format (300 dpi minimum) or in hard copy as positive prints or transparencies and be clearly captioned and credited to the originator. Please note that colour images will be published in colour online and black and white in print. Further guidance on the submission of artwork is available at http:/www.sagepub.com/authors/journal/submission.sp

Bibliographical references

References should follow the full form stipulated in ISO 690-1987, Documentation - bibliographical references - essential and supplementary elements, using either the numeric or the Harvard method of citation in the text. Lists of references should appear at the end of a contribution, not as footnotes.

Publication

Each author of a published contribution is entitled to receive one complimentary copy of the issue in which their work appears, controlled access to a pdf of their contribution and one year's free personal subscription to the print edition of Information Development.

All contributions should be submitted directly to: Stephen Parker, Editor, Information Development, Edifiicio Rosa dos Ventos, Rua Rosa Parracho no. 27, Apt. 1C, Bairro do Rosario, 2750-778 Cascais, Portugal. E-mail: zest@sapo.pt
