Manuscript Submission Guidelines:

Peer Review Policy

Leadership adheres to a rigorous double-blind reviewing policy in which the identity of both the reviewer and author are always concealed from both parties.

Special issue call for papers: Leadership As An Art

Submission Guidelines

1. All submissions should be emailed to:

D.Collinson@lancaster.ac.uk ,

keith.grint@wbs.ac.uk or

leadershipjournal@lancaster.ac.uk.

Please read the following guidelines before submitting your manuscript.

2. The Journal requires an acknowledgement by the contributors that the manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere.

3. It is a condition of publication that copyright is transferred from the authors (or their employers, if they hold the copyright) to Leadership. The requisite forms will be emailed to the corresponding author at final acceptance and must be returned to the publisher.

4. Manuscripts should be double-spaced throughout (including notes and references) and must be written to print onto A4 or US standard size paper.

5. Manuscripts should not normally be longer than 8,000 words in length.

6. Footnotes should not be used. Endnotes - entitled 'Notes' - should be on a separate page after the text and before the References. Notes should be used sparingly and they should comprise significant additional comment but not additional references.

7. An abstract of between 100 and 150 words abstract describing the aims, methods, findings, and conclusions of the manuscript should be included as a separate page. A list of 4-6 key words, in alphabetical order, should follow the abstract. Keywords should express the precise content of the manuscript as they are used for indexing purposes.

8. To ensure anonymity in the double blind refereeing process, the author's name should not appear anywhere on the manuscript. If using Microsoft Word the manuscript 'Summary', under the menu 'File/Properties/Summary', should be erased. In addition, references to previous work by the author should be cited so as to maintain anonymity, such as 'Author, 2004: 23'.

9. The title of the manuscript should be on the first page.

10. A cover page should provide the title and the full identification of the author(s) including name, address, phone number, fax number and email address. Authors should also include a brief (100 word) biography. If there is more than one author the corresponding author should be highlighted.

11. Authors must provide high quality artwork for all illustrations. Tables and figures should be numbered separately and each should have a title and be presented on a separate page at the end of the manuscript. Please indicate in the text where the tables and figures should appear.

12. All previously published tables and figures must be accompanied by permission from the original publisher (or copyright holder of not the publisher).

13. References in the text should be represented by the author's name followed by the date in parenthesis, e.g., (Smith, 2004). Where a quotation is used or a particular passage is cited, the reference should read, e.g., (Smith, 2004: 13-4). If there is more than one reference to the same author in the same year postscript the date with a, b, c, etc. e.g., (Smith, 2004a). Multiple references should be listed alphabetically, separated by semicolons, e.g., (Smith, 2004; White, 1987).

14. References at the end should be listed alphabetically and appear as follows:

Campbell, S. & Fainstein, S. (Eds) (1996) Readings in Planning Theory. Oxford: Blackwell.

Forester, J. (!992) Envisioning the politics of public sector dispute resolution, in S. Sibley & A. Sarat (Eds) Studies in Law, Politics and Society 12, pp 83-112. Greenwich, CT: JAI Press.

Hillier, J. (1999) What values? Whose values?, Ethics, Place and Society 2(2), 179-199.

Mandelbaum, S. (2000) Open Moral Communities. Cambridge, MA: MIT Press.

On publication, authors will receive a maximum of five hard copies of the journal, plus an email detailing access to a restricted quantity PDF file of the article (to be shared with any co-authors).
