Peer Review Policy
Toxicology and Industrial Health operates a single-blind reviewing policy in which the reviewer's name is always concealed from the submitting author, although authors are given the opportunity to suggest reviewers.
Submission

Toxicology and Industrial Health has a fully web-based system for the submission and review of manuscripts. All submissions should be made online at the Toxicology and Industrial Health SAGETRACK website website http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tih
Note: Online submission and review of manuscripts is now mandatory for all types of papers.
New User Account
Please log onto the website. If you are a new user, you will first need to create an account. Follow the instructions and please ensure to enter a current and correct email address. Creating your account is a three-step process that takes a matter of minutes to set up. When you have finished, your User ID and password is sent via email immediately. Please edit your user ID and password to something more memorable by selecting 'edit account' at the top of the screen. If you have already created an account but have forgotten your details type your email address in the 'Password Help' to receive an emailed reminder. Full instructions for uploading the manuscript are provided on the website.
New Submission
Submissions should be made by logging in and selecting the Author Center and the 'Click here to Submit a New Manuscript' option. Follow the instructions on each page, clicking the 'Next' button on each screen to save your work and advance to the next screen. If at any stage you have any questions or require the user guide, please use the 'Get Help Now' button at the top right of every screen. Further help is available through ScholarOne's® Manuscript CentralTM customer support at +1 434 817 2040 x 167.
To upload your files, click on the 'Browse' button and locate the file on your computer. Select the designation of each file (i.e. main document, submission form, figure) in the drop down next to the browse button. When you have selected all files you wish to upload, click the 'Upload Files' button
Review your submission (in both PDF and HTML formats) and then click the Submit button
You may suspend a submission at any point before clicking the Submit button and save it to submit later. After submission, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You can also log back into your author centre at any time to check the status of your manuscript.
Please ensure that you submit editable/source files only (Microsoft Word or RTF) and that your document does not include page numbers; the Toxicology and Industrial Health SAGETRACK system will generate them for you, and then automatically convert your manuscript to PDF for peer review. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor's decision and requests for revisions, will be by email.

Please ensure that authors submit a cover letter with each submission. Manuscripts will not be considered unless accompanied by a covering letter stating any potential conflict of interest (see section below).
Notes for Authors
Toxicology and Industrial Health, a peer-reviewed semi-quarterly publication, publishes original research papers presenting scientific data dealing with basic and applied research in the fields of toxicology, biochemical toxicology, genetic and cellular toxicology, pathology, and risk assessment associated with hazardous wastes and groundwater.
This journal discusses the causes of chronic disease in complex occupational and environmental settings, presents chemical toxicological profiles, and evaluates the health effects resulting from exposure to various chemicals.
Types of Work Considered
Manuscripts are considered for publication with the understanding that they have not been published previously and are not under consideration by another publication. The journal will publish rapidly, brief communications reporting on important research. It will publish several types of articles including papers describing original research results; reviews on subjects of contemporary importance to toxicologists and biochemical scientists; reports or proceedings, which will be published as supplements to issues of the journal at the expense of the organization that submits the proceedings; and brief announcements of scientific meetings or courses of interest to readers.
Manuscript Preparation
All manuscripts should be typed and double-spaced.
Title Page. In addition to the title, this page should include the full name and affiliation for each author. Also indicate which author should be the corresponding author and provide a full mailing address, phone and fax numbers and e-mail address. Please include a running title limited to 50 characters and provide up to 6 key words applicable to the content of the manuscript.
Text.
Papers are to be organized into Abstract, keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, and References sections.
References and Notes.
References are listed alphabetically by surname of the first author at the end of each manuscript. Articles cited within the text are listed as follows: if one author, by surname of the first author and year of publication; up to six authors, by the surnames of authors and year of publication; more than six authors, by surname of the first three authors followed by the phrase 'et al.,' and year of publication. Consecutive citations in the text are placed in chronological order and separated by semicolons.
Do not use abbreviations for the titles of periodicals. References should include authors' last names and initials, article title, journal, volume, page range, and year. Include the city and publisher's name for books. For further information, consult the American Medical Association Manual of Style.

Tables. These should be labeled sequentially as Table 1, Table 2, etc. Each table should be typed on a separate page, numbered, titled, and cited in the text. References to table footnotes should be made by means of Arabic numerals.
Figures.
Artwork should be sent electronically in .eps or .tif format, at 300 dots per inch (118 dots per cm) for superior reproduction. Every illustration should have an explanatory legent, dnot merely Figure 1, Figure 2 etc.
Permissions.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission from the author and publisher for the use of quotes, illustrations, tables, and other materials taken from previously published works not in the public domain. Letters of permission should accompany the manuscript. The original source should be mentioned in the figure caption or table footnote.
Covering Letter/ Conflict of Interest
Authors should provide in a cover letter the name, address, telephone, and fax numbers of the corresponding author. Authors are encouraged to suggest the names of possible reviewers and to indicate the names of individuals who may not be able to provide an unbiased review. Authors should describe any affiliations or financial arrangements with any company whose product appears prominently in the manuscript or with any company making a competing product. Such information will be kept in confidence while the paper is under review and will not influence the editorial decision. If the article is accepted for publication, the editor will discuss with the authors the
manner in which the information will be communicated to the reader.
Proofing.
The corresponding author will have the opportunity to review and approve page proofs of an accepted article before it is published. Proofs are sent by pdf email directly to the corresponding authors email address. To be included, all corrections must be kept to a minimum and returned by the deadline provided. The publisher reserves the right to charge authors for corrections in excess of 10%.

Access to 25 free e-prints will be provided along with details on how purchase additional reprints; the corresponding author will receive one complimentary copy of the journal for each
contributor.
Sage Open
If you wish your article to be freely available online immediately upon publication (as some funding bodies now require), you can opt for it to be included in SAGE Open upon payment of a publication fee. Manuscript submission and refereeing procedure is unchanged, but on acceptance of your article you will be asked to let SAGE know directly if you are choosing SAGE Open. If funding has been provided for your research, convention dictates that you acknowledge the source and grant information in the Acknowledgements section of your article. Please note that in some cases, grant funders require authors to attribute the funding source, describe the role of the study funding body and include the relevant grant reference numbers.
