Manuscript should be submitted to Glenn Palmer, Dept. of Political Science, The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA 16802; e-mail: gpalmer@psu.edu. Authors are strongly encouraged to submit manuscripts via e-mail. Initial submissions are preferred in two PDF files—one containing the title and abstract, the second containing the title and paper. Submissions should have identifying personal references removed. Final submission of papers should be prepared using MS Word. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material from other sources and are required to sign an agreement for the transfer of copyright to the publisher. All accepted manuscripts, artwork, and photographs become the property of the publisher.
All parts of the manuscript should be typewritten, double-spaced, with margins of at least one inch on all sides. Number manuscript pages consecutively throughout the paper. Authors should also supply a shortened version of the title suitable for the running head, not exceeding 50 character spaces. Authors should provide an abstract of not more than 100 words and up to seven keywords, as a separate Word file. Avoid abbreviations, diagrams, and reference to the text.
Manuscripts, including figures, tables, and references, must conform to the specifications described in the The Chicago Manual of Style and the overall style of the journal.
Illustrations
Illustrations (line drawings, halftones, photos, photomicrographs, etc.) should be submitted as digital files. Digital files should follow these guidelines for highest quality reproduction:
* 350 dpi or higher
* sized to fit on journal page
*JPG and TIFF format only
* submitted as separate files, not embedded in text files.
Tables and Figures
Tables and figures should not be embedded in the text, but should be included as separate files. A short descriptive title should appear above each table with a clear legend and any footnotes suitably identified below. All units must be included. Figures should be completely labeled, taking into account necessary size reduction. Captions should be typed, double-spaced, on a separate sheet.
Proofs
One set of page proofs will be sent to the designated corresponding author by email. Proofs should be checked and returned within the specified deadline.
E-offprints and Journal Copies
Authors will receive electronic offprints of their article and a complimentary copy of the issue in which the article appears. A maximum of 5 journal copies will be supplied for multi-authored articles. These will be supplied to the corresponding author.
