Journal Backfile Lease and Purchase Options

Deep backfile for the majority of SAGE's peer-reviewed scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences, and scientific, technical, and medical fields is available for lease or purchase. Deep backfile is defined as the content of a journal from issue 1, volume 1, through the last issue of 1998 (content from January 1999 to the present is included in the current subscription).

Pricing and Licensing Options for Individual Libraries

1. Annual subscription (lease) of the backfile of individual titles: The deep backfile for SAGE journals is available via annual subscription on a title-by-title basis. Institutions that hold a current subscription can lease the backfile for an additional 10% of the annual combined (print + e-access) subscription rate for that journal. To lease the backfile of individual SAGE journals, please contact: backfilesales@sagepub.com
   
   
2. Purchase of the deep backfile of individual SAGE journals (guarantees perpetual access): The deep backfile for SAGE journals is also available for purchase on a title-by-title basis. The purchase price of the deep backfile is dependent on the journal’s current list price and the number of volumes available in the deep backfile. Therefore, the price will vary per journal. Hosting fees apply and customers will be billed annually for hosting fees.

Hosting Fee Associated with the Purchase of Individual SAGE Journal Backfile

A hosting fee of $25 or £15 per journal will be charged to a maximum of $700 or £450 per institution.  Customers who purchase the backfile will have perpetual access to that backfile as long as they continue to susbcribe to the technology fee. 1. Hosting of the entire SAGE Deep Backfile Package:
   Lease of the complete SAGE Deep Backfile Package (380+ journals) is available to customers at a discounted rate (compared to leasing the deep backfile on a title- by-title basis). Please contact backfilesales@sagepub.com for pricing information for your institution.

2. Ownership (perpetual access) of the entire SAGE Deep Backfile Package:
   Purchase of the complete SAGE deep backfile package (380+ journals) is available to customers at a discounted rate (as compared to purchasing the deep backfile on a title-by-title basis). Hosting fees apply and customers will be billed annually for hosting fees.

Hosting Fee Associated with the Purchase of the Entire SAGE Deep Backfile Package by Library Consortia

A hosting fee of $700 per library per annum will be charged to consortia libraries who purchase the entire SAGE Deep Backfile Package.
