SAGE OpenSAGE is pleased to announce the launch of SAGE Open, a new publication to support open access publishing in the social and behavioral sciences and the humanities. SAGE Open will publish peer-reviewed original research and review articles in an interactive, open access format. The journal will offer authors quick review and decision times; a speedy, continuous-publication format; and global distribution for their research via delivery platform SAGE Journals Online. SAGE Open supports the growing number of authors who require their articles to be freely available on publication, either because of personal preference or because of university or government mandates. Unlike traditional journals, it will not limit content due to page budgets or thematic significance. Rather it will accept articles solely on the basis of the quality of the research, evaluating the scientific and research methods of each article for validity. Learn more at www.sageopen.com...Community Networking Sites Launched!SAGE recently launched of two new social networking sites for the academic community: crimspace for criminology and criminal justice; and communicationspace for media studies and communication. Free to join, these public social networks provide researchers with the ability to connect with colleagues; discuss issues and controversies in the forum; read free content selected from SAGE books and journals; view podcasts and videos; and also find information on relevant events, jobs, funding and training. The launches of these new sites follow the success of the research methods network, Methodspace which SAGE launched in March 2009. Since its debut, the site has gained more than 7,500 members globally. Read the full press release for more information. IMechE Journals Now Published by SAGE

Library Services AwardIn an effort to make sure our content is as accessible as possible, SAGE works hard to deliver our content in the format required to help the visually impaired and print disabled. SAGE worked closely with the Publishers Association and TechDis to support the Publisher Lookup website, which provides much-needed information regarding publishers for disability librarians in the UK and throughout the world. Electronic files (where available) are delivered to librarians for the personal use of registered VIP or PD students. All material is provided free of charge for the student’s use. As a result of our efforts, SAGE came second in April for the JISC TechDis Publisher Lookup Award for Accessibility: Reshaping business processes. We were also awarded the JISC TechDis Publisher Lookup Award for Library Service: Providing alternative formats at the CILIP Digital Information Conference in October. Read more...
