New Backfile Purchase and Lease Options Available for SAGE Journals
Deep backfile for SAGE peer-reviewed scholarly journals in the humanities, social sciences and scientific, technical and medical fields will be available for lease or purchase for the 2007 subscription year.
The backfile will be available for lease or purchase by individual libraries as well as library consortia. The pricing of the deep backfile for individual SAGE journals will be included in SAGE's annual journals price list, which will be released in July 2006.

SAGE and Alexander Street Press Partner to Create Online Database
SAGE and Alexander Street Press have partnered to create Primary Sources in Counseling and Psychology, 1950-present, a landmark database containing more than 2,000 transcripts and audio files of actual therapy sessions—almost 40,000 pages of first-person accounts, together with 25,000 pages of major reference works. The database opens a world of primary sources for therapists, clients and students to explore and analyze.

In order to better serve Canada's academic and research community, SAGE has signed an exclusive agreement with Thomson Nelson to distribute SAGE print products, including books, encyclopedias, and Major Works volumes into Canada.
Canada's leading educational publisher and part of The Thomson Corporation, Thomson Nelson provides books and online resources for the educational market in Canada. In addition to distributing, Thomson Nelson publishes a wide range of core and supplemental electronic products and maintains more than 30 interactive websites. SAGE Journals Online Usage Reports Compliant with Release 2 of COUNTER
SAGE has announced that it's online journal delivery platform, SAGE Journals Online, is fully compliant with Release 2, the latest version of the International COUNTER Code of Practice for Journals and Databases. With this announcement, librarians can be assured that SAGE is providing journal usage reports that follow the standards set by the COUNTER Code of Practice.
An international organization of librarians, publishers, and societies, the COUNTER Code of Practice provides library administrators, publishers and customers at subscribing institutions access to credible, regular and consistently measured usage reports for online content, such as the SAGE Journals Online platform. The reports conform to an agreed-upon international set of standards and protocols governing the recording and exchange of online usage data. Full details on Release 2 of the COUNTER Code of Practice are available on the COUNTER website at www.projectcounter.org/code_practice.html.

SAGE Signs Agreements with CLOCKSS and Portico to Preserve E-Journal Content
As a publisher of over 400 scholarly journals, SAGE is committed to ensuring the long-term stability of its valuable journal content so future generations of scholars, researchers and student will always have access to it. In order to accomplish this goal, SAGE is participating in CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS - Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and has signed an agreement with Portico, a new, not-for-profit electronic-archiving service launched last year.

The roll out of this new feature ensures SAGE remains at the forefront of electronic publishing by offering the most flexible routes to the online content of our 400+ journals. SAGE Full-Text Collections Now Available to the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries Consortium
SAGE and CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts) have signed an agreement providing access to all 10 SAGE Full-Text Collections to participating libraries of the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries, the consortium representing 12 major libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. Under this new agreement, many Colorado research libraries will be able to access both the latest journal issues as well as backfiles, some going as far back as 59 years.

MINES for Libraries is a web-based survey methodology that is proving to be a valid and reliable method for assessing networked electronic resources usage. To illustrate its utility, an overview of the methodology, a discussion of assessment infrastructures, and recent results from MINES for Libraries surveys at more than 30 North American universities during the last 2 years are presented, including health sciences libraries, main academic libraries, and a Canadian library consortium of colleges and universities.
