Celebrating 40 Years of Global Publishing
Since 1965, SAGE has helped inform and educate a global community of scholars, practitioners, researchers and students. Today, SAGE publishes 400 journals and thousands of book titles, encompassing the social sciences and other disciplines.

New to SAGE Journals Online (as of November 2004)
We are pleased to announce that the following journals have launched or are scheduled to launch this quarter on SAGE Journals Online:

SAGE Backfile Policy

What are my backfile access rights?
The institution retains perpetual access to all purchased content.

What is SAGE’s rolling backfile policy?
Beginning in 2005, all new institutional subscribers for that year have access to a complimentary rolling backfile. For example, the following applies for new subscribers in 2005:

2005 – the institution will have perpetual access to 2005 content and temporary access to the backfile from 2000-2004 at no additional cost.

2006 – the institution will have perpetual access to 2005-2006 content and temporary access to the backfile from 2001-2004 at no additional cost.

2007 – the institution will have perpetual access to 2005-2007 content and temporary access to the backfile from 2002-2004 at no additional cost.

2008 – the institution will have perpetual access to 2005-2008 content and temporary access to the backfile from 2003-2004 at no additional cost.

2009 – the institution will have perpetual access to 2005-2009 content and temporary access to the backfile from 2004 at no additional cost.

2010 – perpetual access from 2005-2010.

The library will never lose backfile access to the years subscribed.

SAGE Journals Online Librarian Usage Statistics Now Available

SAGE Journals Online Usage statistics are available for you to view.  Please go to http://online.sagepub.com and

1. Click on the Activation/Acct Mgr link from the left hand menu
2. Click the Usage Report link under the Account Manager heading
3. Enter your Username and Password. This will retrieve the usage statistics for all accounts administered under your email address.

You have the option to view the following reports for all titles you administer:

1. View a single-month summary usage for all your subscriptions
2. View a year-to-date COUNTER usage report for all your subscriptions
3. Create a custom multi-month summary usage report
4. Run detailed usage reports per journal

Starting in 2005, SAGE offers institutional subscribers three subscription options to better meet the evolving needs of the academic, research, and corporate communities they serve. These options include:

1. Combined Institutional Subscription – a Combined Institutional Subscription includes E-Access (which provides site-wide online access to all content in the volume) and a print copy of each issue included in the volume for that title.           
2. E–Access Institutional Subscription – an E-Access Institutional Subscription (which provides site-wide online access to all content in the volume) is offered at a 5% discount off the Combined Institutional Subscription rate.
3. Print–Only Institutional Subscription – the Print–Only Institutional Subscription is offered at 4% off the Combined Institutional Subscription rate.

The following journals are excluded from SAGE’s pricing options:  

Migrating from ingenta

SAGE Journals Online has now replaced ingenta and ingenta select as the primary electronic delivery medium of our journal titles. Naturally, you may still link to the full text of the journals you subscribe to via your chosen online intermediary, such as EBSCO EJS, SwetsWise Online, or OCLC FirstSearch ECO.

Two items now need your immediate attention.

• As part of the new platform, all existing URLs for SAGE journals have changed. You will need to update your systems and catalogues to reflect the new platform URLs. A complete list (including a downloadable text file) is available at http://www.sagepub.com/journalmapping/.
• Your SAGE Journals Online account must be activated. This is a simple and quick process.

1. Log on to SAGE Journals Online
2. Click the Activation/Account Mgr button
3. Enter your account number to activate your account *
4. When requested enter your username and password. This is currently set as your account number.
5. Follow the steps on screen to edit your account details and IP ranges.

Activation on SAGE Journals Online is at the account level and not at the title level so you only need to activate for each account and not for individual titles. Please note some customers may have more than one account with SAGE, so please ensure that you activate each of your accounts.
