SAGE is delighted to announce the signing of an agreement with the International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) for 2006. Under the terms of the agreement, SAGE will provide online access to more than 300 SAGE journals to research institutions in 66 of the world's less developed countries, either free of charge or for greatly subsidized rates.
This agreement was arranged via the Programme for the Enhancement of Research Information (PERI), an INASP initiative. This program supports capacity building in the research sector of developing countries by strengthening the production, access and dissemination of information and knowledge.
For a full list of countries whose researchers will benefit from this agreement with SAGE, see the INASP website at http://www.inasp.info/peri/countries.shtml.
???The objectives of the PERI program fit closely with SAGE's core company values, which aim to support the dissemination of teaching and research on a global scale,??? commented Stephen Barr, Managing Director of SAGE UK. ???We are delighted to have been invited to participate in this important program.???
For more information about INASP, visit www.inasp.info.
Cadmus ArticleWorksTM is a comprehensive content delivery system that makes it possible for publishers and content providers to offer content on-demand from their website. ArticleWorks offers two delivery options:
Single article sales to non-subscribers: ArticleWorks is a complete turn-key e-commerce system that plugs into a publisher's website and allows non-subscribers to purchase individual articles in either printed or electronic formats. A potential reader can choose to immediately receive a PDF file or to receive a professionally printed copy by express delivery. The RapidRights protected file can be opened on a single computer and once opened can be accessed while offline. The publisher chooses whether or not they want to allow users to be able to print the files.
SAGE is pleased to announce our partnership with the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). With Copyright Clearance Center's point-of-content licensing solution, Rightslink®, it's faster and easier than ever before to obtain permission to reuse SAGE online journal content. Simply locate the article(s) online that you would like to reuse, click on the ???Reprints and Permissions??? link, select your desired reuse option(s) and agree to the terms and conditions. Your license will be granted instantly!
SAGE and the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) are pleased to announce that nominations are being accepted for the 2006 SAGE Library Support Staff Travel Grants. Sponsored by SAGE, the Library Support Staff Travel Grants (six to be awarded) make it possible for library support staff to attend the American Library Association (ALA) Annual Conference to be held in the summer of 2006.
The travel grants cover the expense of attending the conference, including airfare, three nights lodging, and conference registration, totaling up to $1,000 for each recipient. Library Support Staff who currently are employed in a full-time support staff position, have a minimum of three years of experience in an area of technical services (acquisitions, cataloging, collection development/management, preservation of library materials, serials), and have not previously attended an ALA annual conference are eligible for the grants. Applicants need not be members of ALA or ALCTS in order to be eligible. The deadline for nominations and supporting materials is December 1, 2005. Successful candidates will be announced on the ALCTS website beginning February 1, 2006.

The winners of this year's Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers ( ALPSP) and ALPSP/Charlesworth Awards were announced at the Association's annual dinner held at the Royal Society of Medicine in London on Thursday, September 15, 2005.
China Information, which was recently relaunched by SAGE, received special mention for the ALPSP/Charlesworth Award for Learned Journals. The journal was recognized for demonstrating a clear and attractive design.
The ALPSP/Charlesworth Award for Learned Journals is for outstanding journal design and is open to all publishers or journal owners worldwide. The panel received just over 20 applications in this category. Journals may be existing or relaunched but must be in printed form (with or without an electronic version) and consist primarily of peer-reviewed scholarly research articles. The judges considered the many aspects of a journal's design, including the cover, layout and typography together with the ease of use for readers and librarians and how well it serves its audience.
For more details, visit the ALPSP website.

The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science Celebrates Its 600th Volume

Since 1889, The American Academy of Political and Social Science has served as a forum for the free exchange of ideas among the well informed and intellectually curious. In this era of specialization, few scholarly periodicals cover the scope of societies and politics as does The Annals. Each volume presents more than 200 pages of timely, in-depth research on a significant topic of concern.
The 600th volume of The Annals, titled The Use and Usefulness of the Social Sciences: Achievements, Disappointments, and Promise and edited by Robert W. Pearson and Lawrence W. Sherman, chronicles the achievements, disappointments, and promise of the social sciences. Articles in the volume recount the conditions under which the social sciences have helped improve public policy or enlighten public discourse.

Sage Announces Additional Options for Consortia
SAGE listens to its customers, which is one reason why it has enjoyed four decades of success. Once again, in response to research and feedback from our market, including discussions with the library community, SAGE is expanding its offerings to consortia customers.
Expanded and Refined Options
SAGE has expanded and refined its library consortia offerings, providing even more choices for SAGE journals content. Designed to provide both small and large consortia with the content needed to meet each of their individual libraries' needs, SAGE will now offer all of the following purchasing options:
"As the world of online journals continues to evolve," says Blaise Simqu, President and CEO of SAGE, about the changes, "we remain firmly committed to listening to librarians and consortia to ensure our products and services meet their needs. These changes reflect that commitment."
As the time to renew licensing deals and subscriptions nears, we would like to remind you of your regional SAGE Publications sales contact for licensing deals (consortia/multi-site) and electronic database sales. Please feel free to contact your local representative at any time.
