SAGE to Publish the Journal of Defense Modeling and Simulation: Applications, Methodology. Technology

Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, Singapore and Washington DC (May 26, 2009) — SAGE and the Society for Modeling and Simulation International announced today that JDMS: The Journal of Defense Modeling and Simulation: Applications, Methodology, Technology will be published by SAGE beginning in June. JDMS is a quarterly peer reviewed journal devoted to advancing the practice, science, and art of modeling and simulation as it relates to the military and defense.

The primary focus of the journal is to rigorously document technical lessons derived from practical experience. The journal also publishes work related to the advancement of defense systems modeling and simulation technology, methodology, and theory. The journal covers all areas of the military/defense mission, maintaining a focus on the practical side of systems simulation.

JDMS will be made available as a combined bundle with Simulation, its sister journal at the Society of Modeling Simulation International. The journal will be sent to all existing Simulation subscribers, providing significant extra value for readers.

"The JDMS is ideally situated between academia and government/industry to provide the clear thinking on nascent, practical issues where policy and subsequent programs are yet to develop," said Jerry Couretas, Editor-In-Chief of JDMS. "The partnership between the JDMS and Simulation provides additional technical depth for thinking through these longer term issues."

"Both JDMS and Simulation help professionals and researchers to apply the advances made in modeling and simulation," said Tessa Picknett, Publisher STM Journals, SAGE. "By combining the distribution of these titles, readers will now benefit from both a multidisciplinary approach to modeling and simulation as well as a very focused exploration of the theoretical and practical applications for military and defense."

JDMS will be available from SAGE during 2009 as a free online-only publication, including the entire backfile dating back to 2004. Starting in 2010 the journal will be sold in both print and online. The first issue to be published by SAGE will be vol. 5 issue 1, year 2009. The new website on SAGE Journals Online is http://dms.sagepub.com.
