Journal of Primary Care & Community Health: New quarterly journal for 2010

Los Angeles, London, New Delhi, Singapore and Washington DC (October 26, 2009) The Journal of Primary Care & Community Health (JPCCH is being launched by SAGE in January, 2010. This quarterly, peer-reviewed journal is dedicated to the study, practice, impact and outcomes of primary care services and community health programs.

Edited by James E. Rohrer, PhD of Rochester, Minnesota, JPCCH will publish hypothesis-testing studies as pilot or larger intervention projects. The journal is aimed at those primary care providers and community health professionals who study their own patients for the purpose of promoting health and preventing disease. Topics include:

  • Overuse of primary care or community health services
  • Informatics in primary care
  • Health-related changes in the community, such as morbidity, infection, birth weight
  • Delivery of screening tests
  • Targeting behaviors such as substance abuse, obesity, unsafe sexual practices

“Community healthcare givers need access to the latest research,” said JPCCH editor Rohrer. “Physicians, allied health professionals, community health educators, and epidemiologists who study health behavior and health outcomes will find the content relevant and useful to their daily activities.”

Evidence in the form of hypothesis-testing studies will be presented, either in the form of pilot projects or larger intervention projects.

“We’re very pleased to launch the Journal of Primary Care & Community Health,” said Jayne Marks, SAGE Vice-President and Editorial Director, Journals. “It will fill a vital role in keeping these important health care professionals up-to-date on the latest research in the field and is an excellent addition to the prestigious SAGE list of public health journals.”

The Journal of Primary Care & Community Health will be published quarterly, beginning in 2010. For more information, visit http://jpc.sagepub.com.
