Cities in American Political History, from CQ Press Wins PROSE awardWashington DC, (February 16, 2012) — The unique reference, Cities in American Political History, from CQ Press, has been given an Award for Professional and Scholarly Excellence (the PROSE Award), in the category of: Single Volume Reference/Humanities & Social Sciences. Sponsored by the Professional/Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers, the PROSE Awards recognize books, journals and electronic products such as Cities in American Political History, that best exemplify a sound contribution to professional and scholarly publishing; resources that maintain both the highest editorial standards and the highest standards of design and production consistent with the objectives of the project. Beginning in the Revolutionary Era (1776-1790) and continuing through to the recent Neoliberal Era (1989-2011), Cities in American Political History, edited by Richardson Dilworth, analyzes the development of America's ten most populous urban areas, exploring how those cities responded to the challenges of ten critical eras of U.S. development. Readers will find information on: government and politics; industry, commerce, labor; race and ethnicity; and immigration for each of the cities included. "We're delighted that Cities in American Political History was judged by peer publishers, librarians, and other professionals as worthy of such a distinguished award," commented Todd Baldwin, Director, Online Publishing. "As the leading publisher of resources on American politics and government, elections, current events and world affairs, this PROSE honor highlights the work we do, in providing important information to students, researchers, scholars and professionals everywhere." The 2011 PROSE winners were announced on February 2, 2012, at a luncheon during the PSP Annual Conference in Washington, DC. |
