SAGE Reference's International Encyclopedia of Political Science receives Dartmouth Honorable MentionLos Angeles, (February 6, 2012) - SAGE Reference's International Encyclopedia of Political Science, published in association with the International Political Science Association, has received this year's Honorable Mention recognition from the esteemed Dartmouth Medal Award. Considered the most prestigious award in all of reference publishing, the Dartmouth Medal was established in 1974 to recognize the creation of one reference work of outstanding quality and significance from the previous year. Before that time, no special honor of this importance existed in the U.S. for a distinguished reference work. Some years, a second title is so close in quality and importance to the actual medal winner that the committee awards an Honorable Mention designation, and this year, that tribute was given to International Encyclopedia of Political Science. Providing an exhaustive overview of the empirical findings and reflections on politics, the eight-volume International Encyclopedia of Political Science is the work of over 600 leading scholars from around the world, who collaborated to provide an accessibly written resource exploring a comprehensive picture of all aspects of political life. "We're delighted that the publishing work we do at SAGE Reference has, once again, been recognized by such a distinguished awards program as the Dartmouth Medal," said Rolf Janke, SAGE Reference, Vice President. "It was an honor to work with the International Political Science Association to create this award winning reference." "This is our second Dartmouth recognition; Encyclopedia of Journalism earned the same designation two years ago," he added. "Each time our titles are honored, it underscores the importance of our vision to provide the research community with first-class resources packed with cutting-edge information in a variety of user-friendly formats." |
