Get updated on the climate debate in SAGE Reference's Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change, 2nd Edition

Los Angeles (July 10, 2012) The debate over global warming, at least partially brought on by human enterprise according to many experts, has continued to ebb and flow over the past few years, depending literally on the weather, politics, and media coverage of climate summits and debates. Research has also changed the discourse as new data are collected and new scientific projects continue to explore and explain global warming and climate change.

That’s why SAGE Reference has published a completely updated and expanded second edition of its well-reviewed Encyclopedia of Global Warming and Climate Change. With at least 40 entirely new entries providing the latest perspective and a thorough revision of more than half of the original ones, the more than 750 A-to-Z, up-to-date entries each conclude with suggestions for further reading and cross-references to related entries, and are helpfully organized in a Reader’s Guide within the following key topics:

  • Atmospheric Sciences
  • Climate
  • Climate and Society
  • Climate Change, Effects
  • Climate Feedbacks
  • Climate Models
  • Countries: Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe, Pacific
  • Glaciology
  • Institutions Studying Climate Change
  • Oceanography
  • Paleoclimates
  • People
  • Policies and Conventions
  • U.S. Government and International Agencies
  • U.S. States

Published in three print volumes, this edition includes updates to the online version that incorporates new multimedia elements such as some 250 full-color photographs and 50 video clips, enlivening the content and making it an outstanding resource for academic and public libraries serving those needing a multi-authored, academic, yet nontechnical and understandable resource for students and teachers. A FREE 30-day online trial to this title is available at www.sagepub.com/freetrial.

Editor S. George Philander is Knox Taylor Professor of Geosciences at Princeton University, and Research Director of ACCESS (African Centre for Climate and Earth System Science) in Cape Town, South Africa.
