SAGE, Corwin aid local Schools with Book for Schools Grants

Thousand Oaks, CA (May 31, 2012) SAGE and Corwin, a SAGE Company, are happy to announce this year's grant recipients in the Books for Schools program. Ten schools from Santa Barbara and Ventura counties were selected to each receive a $1,000 grant to help fulfill their school's library's needs.

"Libraries are at the core of SAGE's business and something we highly value," said Blaise Simqu, President and CEO of SAGE. "To support the libraries in our neighborhood not only makes sense, but reinforces our commitment to helping further education."

Local K-12 public schools in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties were encouraged to apply online for the awards, which were given on a number of criteria. This year's grant recipients are:

  • Bridges Charter School (Thousand Oaks)
  • Buena High School (Ventura)
  • Fillmore Middle School (Fillmore)
  • Franklin Elementary (Santa Barbara)
  • Grace Thille School (Santa Paula)
  • Rio Vista School (Oxnard)
  • Rose Avenue Elementary (Oxnard)
  • Santa Susana High School (Simi Valley)
  • Sequoia Middle School (Newbury Park)
  • Sunkist Elementary School (Port Hueneme)

"Our business is supporting the needs of teachers and schools," said Michael Soules, President of Corwin. "We are truly pleased to support those worthy schools in the areas where our employees work and live."

SAGE and Corwin annually fund numerous philanthropic endeavors that help support education in the local community. The Books For Schools program has been a cornerstone of those endeavors for more than five years. Both companies are headquartered in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Information about the 2013 Books for Schools program, open to any public school library in Santa Barbara or Ventura Counties, will be available on the SAGE website beginning in January of 2013. For more information visit our web site at www.sagepub.com.
