Welcome to SAGE Sociology
Dear valued customer,
For over 45 years, SAGE has served the expanding sociological community by publishing high-quality textbooks and media. In recent years we’ve begun to expand beyond libraries and classroom. Through programs like the SAGE Teaching Innovations & Professional Development Award (link to award page) and the Public Sociology community site (link to publicsociologyspace.com) we strive to support faculty, students, and the study of sociology.

Announcing the SAGE Teaching Innovations & Professional Development Award
|
Six years ago SAGE initiated a new program in conjunction with our introductory text, Our Social World. The SAGE/ASA Teaching Innovations & Professional Development Award provides a monetary award to graduate students and new professors to attend the ASA Section on Teaching and Learning’s pre-conference workshop. This year the workshop is called The Art at the Heart of Learner-Centered Teaching. The first year there were 96 applicants and 13 awards made. Since then the program has expanded; over the past 4 years, 95 junior colleagues have benefited. In 2011, twenty-three awards were provided to young scholars from all regions of the country and all types of institutions (a selection committee composed of members of the Section on Teaching and Learning chooses the winners.) Now in its fifth year, we have concluded that the program is wildly successful. |

Here's what award winners are saying about the pre-conference: |
"...At this conference I not only re-affirmed my commitment to teaching, but I also learned practical skills that will serve me throughout my career...I think your support of this workshop speaks volumes about your commitment to higher education and I would personally like to thank you for this support." Kerry Greer, |
"I have been teaching at the college level for eight years and I learned more that day than in those previous eight years. It is a fantastic opportunity for young teachers and I hope that you consider continuing your support." Daina Cheyenne Harvey, |
"I would be remiss if I didn't let you know that this was truly one of the most useful, well-coordinated conferences I have ever attended...So thank you, so much, for sponsoring such a worthwhile program, and providing us future faculty with an excellent opportunity to learn and grow as both teachers and scholars." Jennifer A. Jones, University of California, Berkeley |
