Dorian Brown Crosby Spelman College, USA
Dr. Dorian Brown Crosby is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia. She is also the past and inaugural director of Cultural Orientation in the Gordon-Zeto Center for Global Education at Spelman. She graduated cum laude from Spelman College with a BA in political science and earned her MA in political science and international relations from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware. She earned her PhD in political science from Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. Her research interests are in the areas of refugee and forced migration studies. Her work also intersects with ethnic and racial politics, and women’s studies. Specifically, her research, teaching, and community engagement focus on resettled African refugees in the United States. Her work has been published in journals, such as Bildhaan: An International Journal of Somali Studies, The Journal on Race and Policy, and Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men. For her dedication to teaching and her students, Dr. Crosby received the 2017 Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award.
