Hillary Jephat Musarurwa is a DPhil Public Management (Peace Studies) candidate at the Durban University of Technology, South Africa. He is a youth empowerment enabler, who aims at creating opportunities for young people from marginalized backgrounds. He is the Founder of Practical Empowerment & Networking Youth Association (PENYA), an NGO that focuses on youth empowerment through skills training, research and advocacy. He is a social entrepreneur with 20 years’ experience in the financial services and community development sectors. He has been involved in empowerment and economic upliftment through dynamic programs that directly involve, empower, and benefit marginalized youth in Zimbabwe and South Africa. He holds qualifications in Banking, Microfinance Management, and an MPhil in Inclusive Innovations. His research focus is on the application of social entrepreneurship as a youth development tool toward sustainable peacebuilding and socio-economic development. He studies how social exclusion and inequalities constitute a vector of conflict and impact on the socio-economic livelihoods of marginalized groups.
