Nora Murphy Loyola Marymount University, USA

Nora A. Murphy is an associate professor of Psychology at Loyola Marymount University (LMU) in Los Angeles, CA. Her research interests include nonverbal behavior, first impressions, person perception accuracy, emotions, and meta-analysis. Much of her research involves the use of “thin slices,” which are brief video clips of social interactions, to investigate how emotions, personality, and nonverbal behavior shape social outcomes. She has over two dozen publications appearing in scholarly academic journals such as the Journal of Nonverbal Behavior, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Psychology and Aging. She is currently serving as an associate editor for the Journal of Nonverbal Behavior and associate chair of the Psychology Department at LMU. She received a BS in Psychology from Trinity College, Hartford, CT, and MA and PhD degrees in Psychology at Northeastern University, Boston, MA.
