The text is accessible and works well with students who like to dip in to specific sub-sections.
This is an extremely valuable source of reading, information and guidance for my policing students in 1st and 3rd year. It covers all the topical issues policing in England & wales are facing, and the updated editions in print allow for new changes to be incorporated and discussed. I particularly like the summary, self-check and study questions at the end of each chapter, which provides me the resources I need to develop a flipped learning approach with students in large groups, where groups sessions and topical questions for them are essential.
This book is easy to read and clearly structured. The book provides an effective overview of all of the significant factors which influence modern policing in the UK
The book covers key elements to the course structure. It provides interesting accounts relating to the changes in policing and what the future may hold with current restraints on budgets.
This book is an ideal resource for introducing aspects of policing in England & Wales to 1st year students. Not only does the wide range of topics covered introduce the students to a variety of contemporary issues and challenges facing the police, but the additional online teaching resources allows for the support I need in promoting a blended learning approach to a large group of students.
