A good basic guide to CBT, but perhaps less relevant to social workers in their initial training. More relevant for qualified social workers in the field.
An easy read book which covers the basic elements of CBT. Case studies, examples of completed formulations/five areas and examples of interventions are helpful for the reader.
A good approach to applying CBT principles in a mental health setting. Good chapter summaries, reflection points and activities throughout.
great tool for planning new module in mental health
Included in reading list for therapeutic skills modules with pre registration students and the key approach used in the local Trust. Book provides a clear and basic text about CBT, covering most of the important areas at a basic and understandable leve.
I really like the user-friendly layout of this book, and have already recommended it to an MSc student on placement.
I will be using it with a group of BScs on their Preparing for Social Work module where we are doing a session on CBT approaches in social work.
