"Manages to convey very complex current thinking in an accessible way for students and it is supported by impressively wide range of up-to-date literature." (Lecturer, Anglia Ruskin University)
Reflection and self-awareness are key areas in counselling psychology. The book covers aspects such as what reflection is and links this well to clinical practice. Students particularly enjoy the case studies that link the theory to practice and the clear writing style that the author adopts.
A great introduction and overview for students that are working/planning to work with people. Even though the book is written for students in counseling I would suggest it to students that are required to keep reflective diary and use praxis model
Excellent resource - supplemental to those students progressing with their studies
Useful resource when working with counselling skills certificate students. The 'wounded healer' chapter raises pertinent questions around our motivations for 'helping' and the importance of developing self-awareness. The chapter exploring the idea of 'culturally tinted lenses' was helpful when supporting students in exploring issues of difference and diversity. Although not recommended reading for certificate students, this book would appeal to those wanting to reflect at a deeper level and is also useful background reading for tutors.
An excellent book with in depth workings on how refelctive helps
I found this an incredibly useful book for exploring the many facets of reflective practice. It is presented in an accessible manner and will be a useful book for students I work with to use as a resource throughout their training.
This book is clearly set out and provides creative methods of enhancing reflective practice.
i used this book in a developing professional poractice and found it useful as a teaching aid as well as a recommended read to my students
A useful resource for students who are considering pursuing counselling and counselling psychology.
