A fantastic book, lots of good tips and tools for a variety of levels. Highly recommended
The MA programme attracts researchers across many design fields (including education) who seek to influence thinking and practice. This publication focusses predominantly on the acquisition of the professional standards rather than innovative methodologies in the classroom.
This book very clearly presents each of the teacher's standards in a way that students can develop their understanding and meet the criteria in their working practice. Tips and tasks enable the students to put concepts into practice. This book is particularly useful on our professional studies modules when the students first go into schools.
Supports trainees to understand the purposes behind the TS.
Useful as a reference point for students trying to evidence Standards during teaching experience.
Most teacher training courses start with the subject matter of teaching and then add on the standards where appropriate. This book shows a more innovative way of starting with the teaching standards and unpicking these by definition and reference to the trainee's own experiences in the 'Reflections' sections of the book. The 'professional studies' elements are then pulled into the debate.
Very easy to read.
Helpful guide to understand how to apply the standards/ useful classroom based examples.
Good references to the New National Curriculum.
I like the comparisons made with expectations of trainees/professionals in other professions.
Useful questions in each chapter to help trainees reflect on specific areas.
This is an essential text for those teaching on EYITT programmes, clear and well set out. Suggestion for evidence are excellent
A small concise and useful resources which is a must for those who are thinking about a teaching career. It is straight forward to read and follow with useful sections to prompt reflection.
Strong clear text taking the 'fear' out of achieving the Teacher's Standards. Guidance is pertinent and effective as the students are supported in seeing the links in their practice.
