- Jane Nicol - University of Worcester, UK
- Lorna Hollowood - The University of Birmingham, UK
With the number of people living with long term conditions set to increase, ensuring nurses are equipped with the knowledge and skills required to care for this group of people is essential. This book focuses on the relevant essential knowledge and skills, including the impact of long term conditions across the lifespan, the therapeutic relationship, health promotion and empowerment, self-management, symptom management, case management and advance care planning.
Clear and well structured format. Use of case studies makes it straightforward to follow. Address the holistic needs of managing patients with long term conditions.
The module is regarding the specific nursing care of managing a patient with a respiratory, cardiovascular or neurological condition, which are often long term conditions and then linking it to the nursing process and ADL's. This book talks well about generally managing long term conditions but not about specific conditions. I am going to request we order one copy. Thanks
Good overview of conditions in accessible language for students.
There are many case studies within the book and I have used them for teaching students
Excellent resource which students can engage with
A very good book to support learning regarding Long Term Conditions.
This book was very relevant to the undergraduate module. The information was presented in a logical sequence and students said they found the literature useful.
This is an excellent resource for studying long term conditions, linking with the learning outcomes of our long term conditions module "Caring for adults with Long Term Health Needs".
Very useful and interesting book.Recommended to the reading list to support the future nurse module in the new adult curriculum
