SAGE launches new Open Access journal Digital Health

Los Angeles, CA - SAGE, a leading independent academic and professional publisher today announced the launch of a new, interdisciplinary Open Access (OA) journal, Digital Health.

A fully peer-reviewed journal, Digital Health will present universally accessible and digestible content on the latest developments in the rapidly emerging field of digital health practices. A unique and dynamic forum, Digital Health will provide a vital space for the dissemination of, and engagement with, high quality papers for researchers, clinicians and allied health practitioners, patients, social scientists, as well as industry and government.

Focusing on healthcare in the digital age, and encompassing the interlinking advances in informatics and technology, genomics research and the social and political implications of these developments, Digital Health will publish a variety of article types and multimedia material including, but not limited to:

  • research articles , including controlled trials
  • research protocols and study designs
  • review articles
  • video articles
  • tutorials on new methods and best practice
  • opinion pieces
  • essays

Digital Health will accept submissions beginning in the summer of 2014.

Welcoming the announcement Tessa Picknett, Executive Director, SAGE said “Digital Health is a very exciting launch journal for SAGE.  One of SAGE’s leading and founding principles is the support of new interdisciplinary fields, and with the launch of  Digital Health, we are aiming to provide an innovative OA research forum to support one of the most dynamic and impactful areas of change within the health sciences, and its effects on society.”

The Editorial Board for the journal represents experts from a growing and broad range of disciplines contributing to the digital health field.  Commenting on the journal’s launch, Dr Samir Damani (Cardiologist and CEO, MD Revolution, San Diego) stated “Digital Health provides us with platforms that can deliver meaningful outcomes in population health and enable scalable methods for remote delivery of medicine.  However, to date, a clear vision for this transformative specialty has not been articulated. I look forward to this new journal helping to define both the ongoing developments and the promise of this field, now and for many years to come”.
