About Social Research Methods: Sociology in Action

Featuring a unique pedagogical framework, Social Research Methods: Sociology in Action offers tools and techniques that help instructors construct an active learning course that bridges the gap between academic research and the larger social world. Students are guided through the process of conducting research in a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods.

The fourth title in SAGE's "Sociology in Action" series of texts combines all the foundational content needed for an introduction to social research methods course with a rich and diverse set of assignable creative, hands-on, data analytic, and community learning activities fully integrated into the text. Instructors teaching both on-line and in-person will inspire more discussion, application, independent investigation, and reflection in their classes.

Guided learning questions and resources are outlined in each chapter. Editors Kristin Kenneavy, Catherine E. Harnois, Maxine P. Atkinson and Kathleen Odell Korgen conclude with two unique chapters that focus on how social researchers interact with their surrounding communities and help bring about social change and social justice.
