December 2020 | 192 pages | SAGE Publications Ltd
Supervising work that takes place outside your view is a challenge, as is making the best use of the supervision you receive.This guide aims to help both supervisors and supervisees use supervision to maximise learning, and to support best practice.

Introduction

Chapter 1: Accountability Supervision and Clinical Supervision

Chapter 2: Components of Supervision

Chapter 3: Alternative Forms of Supervision

Chapter 4: Power and Authority

Chapter 5: Casework at Second Hand

Chapter 6: Judgements of Solomon

Chapter 7: Games we all play

Chapter 8: The Framework

Chapter 9: Dealing with Problems

Chapter 10: The Needs of the Supervisor

This is a really useful book and certainly relatable to many different areas of work, of which supervision is a part of. It is clear, easy to read and would recommend for anyone with an interests within this area.

Though written primarily for a social work audience, this book has a number of more widely applicable uses.
The book covers a number of things (in its own way) you might find in a number of supervision texts (eg components of supervision), but I'd commend it for these things:
the layout and organisation were helpful;
the chapter on 'Power and Authority';
'Judgements of Solomon' (difficult decisions);
'Games we all Play'; and finally
'The Needs of the Supervisor' (hurray!)
One final - and helpful thing - the neat summary list in p90 of what we all might hope supervision can be like
