This text provides a solid foundation of values based work in Health and Social Care. This book will be extremely useful for developing further arguments in relation to this aspect of the professional issues module
This book address the topic well and with some depth but is still accessible for students
This book is useful for lecturers and students who want to engage in the debate about the role of the person in evidence based practice.
A great book exploring the values in health and social care and has been recommended to our health and social care students
Supports Professional Development for undergrad learning.
Book recommended for the BSc Health and Community programme starting in Feb 15
This is a good book for HNC Health and Social care students to gain an understanding of how and why it is important to implement value-based health practice.
This book covers a broad range of issues in health and social care - there is plenty of discussion about the nature of evidence based practice and the application of research. This would be suitable for higher level courses(HNC+) looking for a deeper understanding of health and care practice
Recommended for use in module on Applying evidence to practice.
Was part of our bid for an education on national level. However another institute won the bid. I thought "not adopted" was the most appropriate status, though it does not reveal that we did select the book.
quite dense and not very inspiring
Helps students think about evidence based practice in a different way
A very good primer
An important explanation of the ethical and humanistic underpinning of nursing practice, which is very relevant in view of the Francis Report (2013) and concerns about quality in nursing and health and social care. However, this is a very positive contribution to the field, which helps professionals to remember why they came into their profession.
This is an excellent book which highlights the important areas that distinguish post qualifying expertise and pre qualifying reflection.
I liked the format of this text and the prompts to explore elements at my own pace further. Excellent format and easy to use.
this is an accessible book that challenges the assumptions of a managment based approach to practice
Evidence based practice has been accepted as the legitimate intervention in most health care practice settings. This book discusses the political context of evidence based practice and covers value based care which could offer some challenges to evidence based practice. Students and teachers will benefit from exploring some alternative views about care that this book offers.
A text which adds further dimension to the health and social care professions. Great for students and professionals to draw upon to inform their practice
This book was an informative book although at a much higher level than I would recomend as essential reading for a year 1 undergraduate nurse. However, for the more able students this text would be of significant value
