SAGE Publishing to begin publishing the journal Feminist Review

June 27, 2018

With the recent focus on the #Metoo campaign, intersectional feminisms and the gender pay gap in the UK, feminism and its associated challenges has once again been firmly placed on the public agenda. These recent developments reflect the vitality and complexity of feminist scholarship and activism, which is constantly changing and providing challenging debates and ideas. Since 1979 Feminist Review has adopted a creative approach to the discipline, addressing the relationship between theory and practice, using this research to push the feminist agenda in new directions and prioritizing an intersectional feminist politics. Because of this, the journal has become an influential platform for debate.

From January 2019, the journal will be published by SAGE.

Feminist Review has a proud history of leading global feminist debates and innovation in publishing. In SAGE we have found a publisher who is closely aligned with our approach, mission and publishing goals – supporting innovative research across multiple disciplines,” remarked Collective member Gina Heathcote.

Along with academic articles the journal publishes experimental pieces, visual and textual media and political interventions, including interviews, short stories, poems and photographic essays. Beginning publication with SAGE in 2019, the journal will be a published three times a year, in March, July and October.

Gina Heathcote continued:

“Working with SAGE, a publisher that shares our commitment to high quality international research and its dissemination, will help the development and enhance the impact of our journal within the field. We warmly welcome this partnership and are excited to see the future expansion of the journal with SAGE.”

Miranda Nunhofer, Executive Director, Humanities and Social Science Journals, SAGE Publishing, further commented:

“The journal has been challenging the ideas of gender, culture, race, class and sexuality for nearly 40 years. Expanding the boundaries of the debate around feminism, the journal is an influential platform for global engagement. We look forward to working with its esteemed Collective to build on this global engagement and the instrumental influence of its research on public policy and wider gender debates.”
