This is a very good book for people who are unfamiliar with the research process.
Excellent book, explains research methodology really well, clear and easy to follow. I will be using this book on a number of programmes to develop students understanding of research methodology.
This edition contains essential information for beginning researchers and it is presented in a clear and coherent way which engages the reader. The reader is carefully supported through references to research, questions posed and very well thought through examples. This is a publication which is a pleasure to read cover to cover, although it can be dipped into as necessary. Careful and appropriate support is provided to enable a beginning researcher to start research with an appropriate level of confidence.
Great comprehensive overview of the topics for this particular course and solid instructional resources and supports provided on the instructor companion site.
I'm still looking for a good, solid coverage of research design and methods without a lot of fluff...like Babbie only briefer.
Very clear and easy to follow. Ideal for the beginner researcher
Very clear and easy to follow. Ideal for the beginner, just as the title suggests
An thorough, easy to follow text-book with practical examples for the beginner researcher.
good complement to the core texts
a useful resource for masters students and especially those thinking of their dissertation
This text offers a range of essential information presented in a straightforward and highly accessible format.
I'd recommend it for use with both undergraduate and with professional postgraduate cohorts.
The use of simple English, the emphasis on operational steps, the use of easy to understand flow charts and the glossary make this a solid research source for novice researchers
Straightforward and helpful approach.
It is a very systematic, highly scientific, and at the same time very simple to understand and to follow
A really useful guide to research that would support students researching at all levels
Will be reccomended but at the moment this course will be on hold.
The book is comprehensive and relevant to postgraduate level teaching. The different stages of the research process outlined in the book are however covered across several modules in a course: these are quantitative methods, qualitative methods, research design and advanced statistics making it difficult to recommend as a key reading for a specific module.
This book covers a wide range of issues that students need to understand to be able to engage with social research. A very well structured book.
Really good book which was easy to read for the students. It would be very accessible for students who are doing their first piece of research
Excellent introductory text. In fact, we are using this for TWO semesters and have suggested it to others!
