Gita Johar
Meyer Feldberg Professor, Business, Columbia Business School
Gita Johar is the Meyer Feldberg Professor of Business at Columbia Business School. She holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC) and a PhD from New York University. She has received the the AMA CBSIG Lifetime Achievement Award and is a Fellow of the Society for Consumer Psychology. She has also served as President of the Society for Consumer Psychology and as co- editor of the Journal of Consumer Research. She co-edited a 2021 Special Issue of the Journal of Marketing on Better Marketing for a Better World (BMBW). She serves as associate editor at the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. Dr. Johar’s research expertise lies in consumer psychology, focusing on consumer identity, beliefs, motivation, and persuasion as they relate to branding, advertising, and media. Her current research examines consumer interactions with technology, aims to understand and mitigate the effects of misinformation, and studies how to use psychological principles to inspire consumers to combat climate change.
