Kathy Tooch is Senior Paralegal and Anti-Piracy Manager. A member of Sage’s Legal group since 2015, her experience includes supporting process improvement, author ethics issues, copyright enforcement and anti-piracy work, drafting contracts, and responding to matters involving fraudulent acceptance letters referencing Sage’s journals. Prior to joining Sage, Kathy worked in the legal departments at Amgen and Disney. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from California State University Northridge and a Paralegal Certificate from UCLA.

Sage has received reports that scammers, who are impersonating Sage staff or editors, are targeting authors by soliciting journal articles and promising publication once a fee is paid. In most cases the scammers’ initial contact with the author is by email or via WhatsApp.
