In a landmark year celebrating its 60th anniversary, Sage has been named ProQuest Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year at the Independent Publishing Awards. The annual celebration recognizes outstanding publishing organizations across the UK and Ireland.
Judges praised Sage’s efforts to make its publishing more sustainable and diverse, as well as its growth in books, journals, and digital content. "It's great to see a social sciences publisher — and such a proudly independent one — doing so well," they remarked.
Since its founding in 1965, Sage has been committed to amplifying scholarly voices and advancing the social and behavioral sciences. Sage’s independence, which is guaranteed for the long term, frees the company to go beyond traditional publishing and create resources that serve humanity.
As Sage looks ahead to the next 60 years of driving impact, several recent initiatives highlight its forward-thinking approach:
Social Justice: Sage Video Collection – Winner of the APEX Grand Award, this collection features 69 hours of cross-disciplinary content exploring global social justice movements.
Sage Research Methods: Diversifying and Decolonizing Research – A resource supporting inclusive and equitable research practices.
Sage Policy Profiles – A free tool that enables researchers to find out where their scholarship has impacted policy.
Discovering Statistics Using IBM SPSS Statistics – With a new edition for 2024, Andy Field’s award-winning textbook continues to support students and researchers in data analysis.
How to Do Research and Get Published Series – Another APEX award-winner, this series guides early-career researchers through the publishing process while introducing them to Sage’s systems and offerings.
