Overview
With researchers.
With integrity.
With impact.Sage is a global academic publisher of books, journals, and learning resources with a growing range of technologies to enable discovery, access, and engagement. Believing that research and education are critical in shaping society, 24-year-old Sara Miller McCune founded Sage in 1965. Today, we are controlled by a group of trustees charged with maintaining our independence and mission indefinitely.
Our guaranteed independence means we’re free to:
- Do more – supporting an equitable academic future, furthering disciplines that drive social change, and helping social and behavioral science make an impact
- Work together – building lasting relationships, championing diverse perspectives, and co-creating resources to transform teaching and learning
- Think long-term – experimenting, taking risks, and investing in new ideas
Our aim to be a trusted partner to societies and the academic community underscores all we do. We invest in emerging fields and help widen the possibilities of research, while maintaining rigorous ethical standards.
We provide researchers flexible routes to getting published with specialist support along the way. And we are proudly independent, which means we're free to champion your research, creating a positive impact on society.
We believe that we offer the best strategic package available. Our portfolio includes more than 1,449 journals and partnerships with nearly 600 publication partners, spanning societies, institutions, medical systems, and individual stakeholders. This scale ensures that our partners and societies benefit from our deep expertise in leased publishing, while still receiving the hands‑on, personalized attention characteristic of smaller publishers.
